County of San Diego Supervisors - District 5
Republicans, according to the latest report from the Registrar of Voters have a near 20,000 person advantage in this far north county district. D5 overlaps with the 49th Congressional district, which has been targeted by Democrats (and Indivisible groups) for an intensive get out the vote effort. This could lead to an upset in the general election in what has been considered the safest seat for Republicans on the Board of Supervisors.
Incumbent Supervisor Bill Horn is termed out.

Democrat, long-time community activist making her first foray into electoral politics. Has been campaigning hard, as the impressive list of endorsements indicates.
Her record as a legislative analyst, along with her record of volunteerism give proof to the substance she’d bring to the position. She’s making no bones about her desire to end the hoarding of county reserves, putting the excess to work building the local economy, strengthening fire protection, preserving open space, and increasing access to affordable housing.

The Republican Mayor of San Marcos is right at home with the more conservative wing of his party and is endorsed by the outgoing--and very crusty--Supervisor Bill Horn..
He makes no bones about the fact he’s running to preserve the status quo on the Board of Supervisors, a status quo that’s left millions in funding for the mentally ill unspent and where skepticism about the cause of climate change is the norm.
