Summary

Democrat. Once upon a time, a Republican Assemblyman who now speaks with the fervor of a recent convert. Has the most detailed issues pages of any local candidate running for office. Would be the sole Democrat on the Board, which is due for a big political shift thanks to term limits and demographic changes.

Analysis

Brings a progressive agenda along with relationships with activist organizations to the County Board of Supervisors. His early years will be about changing the culture as much as winning policy battles.

Summary

Republican who avoids the party label even as she takes endorsements and money from them. Former District Attorney, but running with the “retired judge” label, a position she stepped down from in 2003. Her tenure as a prosecutor was marred by her tangential association with a campaign finance scandal along with rancor from Black activists and medical marijuana advocates.

Analysis

She made the runoff with a mere 23.5% of the vote. An attempt by local conservatives to split the Democratic primary vote backfired. Her list of endorsers stands in sharp contrast to the veracity of her claims to be socially aware.
