A letter from our founder

Dear SDID,

It has been 2 years since I started the downtown chapter on a whim - armed only with a facebook group link and few slips of printer paper handed out at the airport protests.

I could never have imagined that together, we would accomplish so much in only 24ish months.

It's my firmly-held believe that change and renewal are essential to any healthy organization in order to ensure continued success. With the Midterm elections in our rearview mirror and much work still ahead of us -- and for me personally, a demanding full time job, a strong-willed 2 year old and a growing 7mo old, it is a natural time and the right time to make space for new ideas and a fresh approach.

Effective now, Sara Kennedy is stepping forward to take the helm of Downtown. Sara has been a crucial member of the SDID leadership team for some time and she will be leading SDID into its next chapter. I am certain she is the right person to bring the group to new heights and achieve a lasting impact, in collaboration with you and our wider community, and she has my unwavering support.

My heartfelt thanks go out to each of you for your dedication to our cause over the last 2 years. Whether your action happened once a day, once a week, or just once in the last 2 years --- you have helped make our country better.

A special thanks to all that have served on our leadership team, as working group leaders, social media chairs, webmaster and newsletter editors. Quite simply, SDID would not be where it is today without you.

I will continue to be an active member in our group, and encourage you to join the upcoming meeting on March 3rd.

All the best,
Sarah Pease
